Vietnam Enchanted By Coffee

Vietnam is in the midst of a lover affair with coffee that is bound to be a critical factor in pushing forward economic development.

Vietnam is the second largest coffee exporter, topped only by Brazil, and it has the highest number of coffee drinkers in the world.

Coffee is well on its way to becoming the country’s top industrial product.

This was made clear by the success of the Coffee Cultural Week, which wrapped up in Hanoi earlier this month and kicks off today in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event in Hanoi was a big hit, drawing more than 100,000 visitors who came to enjoy their favorite drink as well as to pick, grind and roast their own beans.

In addition, coffee entrepreneurs from all around the world attended, looking for a niche in this potentially lucrative market.

The government has directed concerned agencies to help establish a stronghold for Vietnamese coffee in the world market and turn the central Province of Dak Lak, the premier coffee-growing region of Vietnam,into an international coffee hub.

Thousands of coffee aficionados will jam Tao Dan Park in HCMC, celebrating their love for coffee in the southern extension of the four-day Coffee Cultural Week.

The question “Have you become a fan of coffee?” nailed onto the giant gate at the entrance of the exhibition, calls out to every Vietnamese person who supports domestic industry as well as Vietnam’s growing stature in the world community.

Coffee is one of the world’s most important primary commodities.

With over 500 billion cups consumed every year, coffee is one of the world’s most popular beverages, comprising about a third of tap water consumption.

Vietnam is lucky to have the potential to become a “hot black power” of the world.

Every Vietnamese person should contribute to make good use of that blessing and help move Vietnam into a bright future by fostering this growing industry.
